Lunches at Husthwaite School

Our cook, Mrs Julie Houlston and her catering assistant Mrs Fiona Scarce offer freshly prepared meals, serving a main meal, with vegetarian option, a choice of pudding and a different choice of freshly made bread each day.

We operate a cafeteria system where our children enjoy a nutritionally balanced meal with locally and regionally sourced meats, fruits, vegetable and free range eggs. No artificial colours and preservatives are used and we also ensure that any fats used are non-hydrogenated.

Mrs Houlston has a 3 week menu rota with new menus each term. In addition, she caters for ‘class lunches’, where children design their own menu; lunches to compliment class topics, offering a flavour of other countries and cultures, special occasion lunches for Valentines Day, Mother and Fathers Day, where parents are invited.

And last but not least, super packed lunches for school trips.

Mrs Houlston’s attention to quality and nutrition has been rewarded with the Level 2 Award in Food Safety and Catering, the Level 1 Certificate for Healthier School Meals and the Food Hygiene Certificate with a top rating of 5.
